“AANGAN MA PRASHASAN” (ADMINISTRATION RIGHT UP TO THE COURTYARD) – A DOORSTEP GOVERNANCE INITIATIVE OF SORENG DISTRICT

Soreng District is one of the two new Districts created by virtue of enactment of the Sikkim (Reorganization of Districts) Act, 2021. ‘Doorstep Governance’ is one of the mandates of the Act as enshrined in its Objects and Reasons Clause.

In furtherance of the aforesaid objective of the Act, Soreng District Administration has started an initiative with the name and style, ‘Aanganma Prashasan’. This initiative is a delivery mechanism where instead of public visiting the office, the office visits the public.

Under this initiative, the public delivery services like, certificates, Government benefits disbursement of cheques, Natural Calamity relief etc., are delivered to the Gram Prashasan Kendras at the village level which are easily accessible to the public.

Apart from this, various e-governance interventions are there on the cards. However, the biggest bottleneck in this regard is the poor/no internet connectivity. If we are able to equip the Gram Prashasan Kendras with robust and reliable internet connectivity, many more such initiatives with e-governance interventions can be introduced. This would further bring down the administration right on the fingertip of the citizens.
